The paintings invite the suggestion of the experience of sky gazing, with their subtle nothingness. If one slows, there might be a noticing of a shadow cast within the work that will shift as light or viewer changes, color shifts will occur during a day. The paintings are without an intended narrative. What you see, feel, think when looking is you. It’s all good. The act of noticing is good.

Monklike Habits is proud to present, VSC2: The Violent Study Club Alumni Association, featuring work by Vincent Como, Jonathan Cowen, Matthew Neil Gehring, Rebecca Murtaugh and Debra Ramsey.

In 2015, The Violent Study Club (part book club, part support group) began as a group of friends who got together to discuss the broad topic of “spirituality in art.” Today, we need our friends more than ever.
